Financial institutions, telcos to be accountable to scam victims; new framework kicks in on Dec 16

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has announced new measures to enhance fraud surveillance in response to rising phishing scams. Effective December 16, banks will be required to block or hold suspicious transactions exceeding $25,000 for 24 hours. 

Tourism tax to start with air travel

The Thai government is set to introduce a 300-baht travel tax, beginning with air passengers, according to the Tourism and Sports Ministry. Minister Sorawong Thienthong stated that the collection system will require at least six months to establish after receiving cabinet approval, which is expected in January.
