Singapore Institute of Legal Education
The Singapore Institute of Legal Education (`the Institute´) is a statutory body established under the Legal Profession Act (Cap. 161).
The Institute is entrusted with maintaining and improving the standards of legal education in Singapore, and has powers to review the implementation of initiatives, programmes and curricula relating to legal education in Singapore, including diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and continuing professional development. The work of the Institute includes conducting the Singapore Bar Examinations and the Foreign Practitioner Examinations, and coordinating the mandatory Continuing Professional Development scheme.
The Institute is managed by a Board of Directors which includes members of the Supreme Court judiciary, the Attorney-General, the President of the Law Society of Singapore and the Deans of the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law and the Singapore Management University School of Law.
